deep springs!
i was reading this book called charmed thirds- it's your standard teen angsty girl book, but better than most.
anyway, the main character's boyfriend transfers to a school called pure springs. here's the description provided...
"near death valley on the california- nevada border..."
"founded in 1915 by an oddball named thaddeus fox...steel magnate who thoughtthe traditional model for education bred slow-witted morally questionable dullards. each year, a new classof men... etc..."
so, it's a really long passage, but as you can see, pure springs = deep springs almost exactly.

yep, same series. the third one was subpar, by the way, but this reference cracked me up, because they make deep springs sound like an outrageously cultist fantasyland...when in fact, it exists. and she didn't even exaggerate that much.
oh, Telluride.
MARCUS FLUTIE!?!
God, it's been so long since I was an angsty teen girl. I want to go back.
It is frightening how easily one can form a complete cosmogeny from the combined Jessica Darling series + The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Enter the psyche of the American Everytown.
yeahhh, marcus flutie at deep springs (pure springs, whatever)- who'da thunk it?
Agggh. Damn that Flutie lad.
He's such a hipster.
Thaddeus Fox isn't supposed to be hip.
Robber Baronry is so very passé.
