Coup d'Etat, or Lightness of Heart?

Attention!

In my frantic mid-morning attempt to re-download the computerized version of the Michigan Branch application so as to streamline my fervent attempt to Write Better Essays, I typed out the all-too-familiar address of Ye Olde Association, and was faced with something quite astounding...

It appears that the Telluride Association's website has been hacked!

I know quite little about principles of hacking and Haha-I-Now-Own-Your-Website-Cower-Mortals and all such things, but could someone tell me--is this some kind of strange or cruel joke erupting from within the Association, or is the website really under attack? What are the ramifications of this action?

Perhaps I am only going mad because it is 7h56 in the morning, and am hallucinating strange red-and-black signs of hacx0r victory when really our lovely Directory and those much-needed prompts are curled away and sleeping on that familiar cream-colored page. Someone please ratify my vision--do I wake or do I sleep?

Josh, is something rotten in the state of the Association?

For the rest of you who are scrambling/sweating/typing at a speed or pace formerely unknown to human fingers, or who are flinging about madly in attempt to siphon at least 35% of your soul into this House Application, you have all of my love and well-wishes. We shall be fine, I promise!

Hoping the Best for The Association,
Jessi.

A Brief Update:

My mad(z) computer(z) skillz have finally kicked in, (God Bless Thee, AP Java Programming!) and adding a /default.html to the Telluride Association's address brings one to what appears to be a 100% intact Association website.

The hacker-sign-of-victory is only a splash page, and as to whether that is in accordance or defeats the chief principles of hacking websites, I defer to Mr. Higuera for an answer.

The Association is Safe?

I had not considered that there was any system of etiquette to such patterns of behavior, but, risking all gravity, I must say that (though surely annoying for the Association), the etiquette seems sort of...neat.

Boy In My Three-Person English Class, Remarking on Sexual/Gender Issues as Related to Characters' Rapid Shifts of Sexual Orientation in D.H. Lawrence's The Rainbow:

"What do they call those guys who wear the tight girl pants and have the long hair? What do they call them? Emos? Are they emos?"

I do believe I fell out of my seat laughing. Tears were shed.

Point well served, Adam.

Apparently, "babcan_"
"own3d" the system. I am not, however, competent in international flag identification, so I am not sure of his/her origins or whereabouts or why, exactly, the Telluride Association's website would be a significant thing to conquer.
